A forum dedicated to single family offices and the questions that come with running an office for one family alone: governance, staffing, cost, succession planning, and keeping the family itself at the centre of every decision the office makes on its behalf.
The association marked ten years by tracing how the family office grew from a discreet family function into a recognised profession, and the part Luxembourg has played in that rise. The tenth-anniversary edition was a moment to take stock of the community built over a decade, and to look ahead to the next one.
A family office forum on why a dedicated office remains the most complete way to organise and protect a family’s wealth. Held at the Château de Septfontaines, it looked at how such an office is built around each family, staffed and governed, and made to serve that family and the ones that follow it.
A seminar on art, real estate and other tangible holdings at a time when families were rethinking where lasting value is kept. It set out Luxembourg’s growing role as a home for these assets, from private collections to the free port, and the new risks that come with them.
Held with ACI Luxembourg, this two-day programme brought experts together to share how families can find a rewarding path through the markets of the zero-rate economy. It weighed where uncorrelated investments belong in a portfolio, and how climate change is reshaping the long view a family office has to take.
One of the association’s annual gatherings, held at the Château de Septfontaines, on the worldwide growth of the family office and what that growth asks of the professionals who serve these families. It brought the Luxembourg community together to compare practice and set the direction for the profession here.
A gathering on how family offices across Europe can work together: sharing good practice, agreeing common standards, and speaking with one voice to institutions and regulators, with Luxembourg positioned as a natural meeting point at the centre of the continent.
A Swiss edition of the association’s programme that brought the Luxembourg and Swiss family office communities together in Zurich. It compared how the two centres serve families, where their strengths differ, and how closer ties between them can benefit the families that work across both.
Part of the association’s philanthropy series, on how families give through art: building and sharing a collection, lending and exhibiting it, and using it to support the artists, museums and causes a family cares about across generations.
Part of the philanthropy series, on how families put their wealth to work for a more sustainable future. It looked at how charitable giving and long-term, responsible investment can be pointed at the same goals, and how a family office can hold both together.
Part of the philanthropy series, on the entrepreneurial family and philanthropy: backing founders and social ventures, mentoring the next generation, and passing on the drive to build something alongside the means to give it away well.
A members’ gathering where family offices look at investment ideas together, share due diligence and consider co-investing side by side. It offers the discretion and trust the family office setting is built for, and the scale that comes from families acting together.
A seminar on the practical reasons families base a family office in Luxembourg: a stable legal setting, a wide range of structures for holding and passing on wealth, and the depth of banks, advisers and professionals that stand behind them.
A seminar on the growing presence of Chinese families in Luxembourg, and how the centre can serve families establishing a base in Europe. It looked at the questions that matter most to them, from structuring and succession to education and continuity across borders.
Further highlights from the association’s programme will be added here as the calendar grows.
